Unibet is a publically traded company which was formed in 1997 and initially operated to the European market out of the United Kingdom as a telephone betting operation and, following the lead by their industry competitors, they started to move into markets with a gambling culture and high internet penetration in order to capture an online presence through their website which was launched in 1999.
Organic expansion as well as acquisitions has transformed Unibet into one of the largest European operators who have a large presence in the Nordic region as well as Belgium, France and the Netherlands and who have seen their growth aided by the range of betting platforms which range from the internet, mobile phones as well as digital TV to reach an estimated 5 million worldwide customers.
Although they offer an extensive range of betting options, Unibet are generally focused to the European markets; while they do cover American sports the offerings are not nearly as broad as other sportsbooks although they do offer more exotic offerings such as skill games, bingo and online scratch cards in addition to the typical poker and casino platforms and is an essential sportsbook for the more obscure Nordic sports bettor with betting lines which cover Floorball, Trotting and Pesäpallo although the limits tend to be significantly lower in the less popular sports.
