Party Bets is a subsidiary of Party Gaming which was founded by Ruth Parasol in 1997 and was a network of gambling websites, the first of which was Starluck Casino, which originally operated under the name of iGlobalmedia but subsequently went through a name change to Party Gaming. The flagship of the Party Gaming brand is PartyPoker.com which was launched in 2001 and at one point it was the largest online poker network in the world in terms of player numbers and ring game revenue.

However, the passage of the SAFE Port Act forced Party Gaming (2006) to first suspend all real money offerings for US customers which resulted in them losing the majority of their players and 60% of their market value overnight; in 2009 they agreed to pay $105 million fine for illegally targeting customers from the USA. Although they have been overtaken by the likes of PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker, who continue to service the American market, they remain the third largest worldwide poker network.

Party Gaming launched Party Bets in November 2006, shortly following their acquisition of the Gamebookers, which offers a wide range of bets for their largely European clientele. Whereas most European sportsbooks offer worse than -110 pricing on American sports Party Bets consistently offer -110 on their offerings and the relative lack of betting activity and line movement means that prices can be more favourable that at low margin sportsbooks such as Pinnacle Sports. Another benefit is that PartyGaming has a single integrated e-wallet for the sportbook which can be used across its portfolio of offerings such as the poker room and casino.
