Gamebookers is a sportsbook, originally located in Bulgaria, which started their online operation in 1998 out of Antigua and, unusually for sportsbooks operating out of that area, focused on the European market which at the time had relatively little online competition in comparison to the USA market which was fought over by a number of major industry players. With no retail presence in Europe, unlike other European sportsbetting operations such as Ladbrokes and Eurobet, they carved out a sizeable share of the growing online market and at one point even became more popular for online betting in Ireland than Paddy Power, the largest bookmaker located there.

Gamebookers was an independent operation until it was acquired in 2005 by Trident Gaming, who operated the now defunct P2P betting exchange BetBug.com, before changing hands again in 2006 after being bought by the Party Gaming group for €102 million. The acquisition by Party Gaming came shortly before the passing of the SAFE Port Act as they tried to diversify and reduce their dependence on the American market which made up around three quarters of their revenue up until then.

Shortly after the acquisition, Gamebookers was integrated into the PartyGaming platform and now essentially operates as an alternate skin for the PartyBets brand.
